As we head further into the discussion about how precisely independent small businesses have fared under a recession-hit Labour government.

Contradictory views are all around:

    * The recession has struck the backbone of British economy

      Therefore we required a shake-out to get rid from the underperforming organisations and businesses

    * Independent corporations are being brushed aside and allowed to close

      And so they all deserve to go bust

    * Business Link (= the government) is performing nothing to improve companies

      AND Business Link saved my organization

    * Independent businesses and organizations deserve grants and help because they’re a great thin

      AND they require to fend for themselves.

The problem with these conflicting ideas is seen most clearly when people mention’entrepreneurs’.

I apologise for my binary (black and white) way of looking at things yet sometimes it is helpful to play the Devil’s Advocate and make use of extremes to fully understand what’s actually going on. So, my thoughts…

Now there seem to become two stereotype meanings from the noun ‘entrepreneur’, that co-exist within the world. Nonetheless they, entrepreneurs, are treated as a single homogeneous group.

Definition a single

The first group is what I call the ‘blameless Poor me SME’ – habitually applying the term’they’ to describe the actual reasons for their particular difficulties: the banks, accountants, potential customers, staff, suppliers– ‘they’ seem to be continuously the issue.

Note that ‘I’ am certainly not the issue. Curious that a single!

Definition two

The second party is considered the revolutionary and also inspiring’can do’ businessmen- impressive, motivating rule-breakers.

So what?

The conundrum is always that we talk about’entrepreneurs’ and select the relevant description to fit the circumstances. These groups are certainly not the same.
